Dhyana 400BSI V2.0

The Dhyana 400BSI V2.0 is an extremely sensitive scientific camera. It has been designed specifically for quantitative analysis applications.

This camera can either be either water or forced-air cooled, depending on the level of noise sensitivity required. Forced-air cooling gives a typical dark current of 0.15e-/p/s while water cooling gives 0.10e-/p/s.

It has excellent ultra-low noise performance over a very wide range of wavelengths.

CameraLink and USB3.0 digital connections allow for fast data transfer.

Dhyana 95

High sensitivity, low noise, backside illuminated (BSI) SCMOS camera with a wide field of view.

The Dhyana 95 has it’s peak Quantum Efficiency (95%) at 560nm, and a wide dynamic range.

Excellent signal to noise ratio:

Capable in challenging conditions:

Microscopes for Education

We have an excellent range of upright and stereomicroscopes for schools, students, and teacher. Designed to be simple, safe, and robust, SIOS has the best range for modern classrooms.

SIOS also has a complete range of camera and imaging options suitable for both students and presentation.

Junior Student Microscopes

M100FLED

The M100 is a solid and known entity. The frames are common, and our factory adds their own reasonable quality objectives and eyepieces. These are generally recommended for primary schools and potentially up to year 9. It is available in either a monocular with 4x, 10x, 40x objectives, and a simple stage (M100-FLED) . The M100-FBM is the same microscope but a binocular with a mechanical stage, 100x oil immersion objective. Both LED rechargeable.

Senior Student Microscopes

E3MS
E3MS

The E3 range is a more capable and robust instrument. It has been especially designed for senior school students (grades 9 – 12) as it takes the same format as the microscope students will use in later study or in the work place. Available in mono- or binocular versions. A simple stage version of the monocular is available, but the mechanical stage versions are generally recommended. All LED rechargeable, no cords to move around

Teaching Microscopes

Teachers and need a little bit more size and function compared to students, and the E5 Compound Microscope is a very capable unit that is often used in more demanding environments like vet clinics. It’s bigger size makes it easier to use, and the Trinocular version can have a standard c-mount camera attached, including options that will connect directly to a large screen or projector. Rechargeable LED for easy movement around.

Student Stereo-microscopes

Stereo-microscopes, sometimes called dissecting microscopes, are great for lower magnification tasks, especially where the specimen moves or is manipulated. Our ST30R-2LED rechargeable model is a very robust model that has good optics and 20x and 40x total magnification.

USB eyepiece cameras

The TP-SP505 is a 5MP is an excellent addition to our students microscopes for teaching

About Calibration slides

Slide micrometers and calibration slides for accurate measurement

Our slide micrometers and calibration slide range.

We stock a range of high quality, precision slides with reflective markings. This makes them suitable for use with all microscopes that use transmitted, reflected or oblique illumination.
Our multi-scale calibration slide is the best option for most applications.
We have some notes on use below and a video example of calibrating Mosaic 2.0 software.

Notes on using calibration slides

  • Make sure that you are familiar with the calibration process in your software. The steps will be different, but the process is the same.
  • You will need to make a new calibration for each objective, camera and c-mount adaptor combination.
  • Anything that changes the total magnification will affect the accuracy. If you change the c-mount focus, you should check your calibration remains accurate.
  • The software generally only measures the actual number of pixels in the line. It will then calculate the measurement based on the calibration or measurement level that you have selected. This is a feature but may feel wrong at first.
  • Make a note of your units, and that you know to convert between the units the slide is in and the units you report in.
  • Make a note of the “pixels per unit” or similar for each objective. While this is unique for each set-up, it will quickly let you note any changes made by another operator.
  • Have a reference sample handy too. Use something that you have a good idea of the actual measurements.
  • When measuring, use the same edge for both the starting and ending points of your calibration line.
  • Use the minor divisions to make as close to a straight or 90° line as possible. This will minimise parallax error, although this will be very small.

Handheld Penetrometers

GY-3 Fruit Hardness Tester

Handheld penetrometers are a quick and cost effective way to measure the force required to penetrate a membrane, like the skin of fruit or packaging materials.

It is always recommended to use a penetrometer when accuracy and reproducibility is important. By ensuring that the probe force is perpendicular to the specimen surface, parallax error is removed, and less strain is placed on measurement mechanism.

Eyepiece Cameras

Eyepiece cameras

Simple camera options for all microscopes

Eyepiece cameras are our simplest and most cost effective microscope imaging option. They replace one eyepiece and provide entry level photo and video capture. Will work with any microscope that can accept a 23mm eyepiece and adapters are available for larger eyepieces (30mm, or 30.5mm) with Windows and Macintosh software.

  • Standard eyepiece cameras , TP-SP505

3MP or 5MP | USB2 | 0.5x Reduction Lens built in for better field of view.

Our entry level eyepiece cameras are excellent value for money and they all include a reducing lens to provide image that is close to the image as seen in the eyepieces. This provide a clear and professional looking image. Adapters for 30 and 30.5mm eyepieces eyepiece tubes available. Metal cases quality glass lenses.

Pseudo Incident Light Microscope

Advantages

  • Portable
  • Light weight
  • In expensive

Disadvantages

  • Off centre light source can cast shadows
  • More components
  • More fiddly

Standard configuration

Our E5 microscope is the standard microscope base for this application. We add a multi-port USB power supply to power two LED light sources on goosenecks. This allows the operator to position the light as required and have the lowest footprint as possible.

Specifications

E5 with Oil Patch Testing Configuration
Eyepieces 10× 18mm, one with graticule
Objectives 4× & 10×
Other available upon request
Illumination 2× USB LED on goosenecks – subject to variability
Stage Size 132 x 140mm
Stage Movement 50 x 76mm
Power Supply 240Vac to 3× USB type A sockets – subject to variability
Warranty Microscope – 3 years. Other components – 1 year

Options

A smaller E30 model can be supplied, however the stage isn’t big enough to allow for traversing a standard petrie dish in both directions.

A camera and c-mount adaptor is strongly recommended, and our entry level GT2 or GT5 cameras are ideal.

If required as a part of a complete patching testing kit, we recommend talking to Clean Lube Solutions
